Report: Take-Two to Shut Down Seattle Office
It appears that Take-Two is set to close its Seattle location this summer as part of a broader effort to reduce costs. A Worker Adjustment and Retaining Notification (WARN) notice filed in the state of Washington, as seen by GamesIndustry.biz, indicates that the office will be shutting down, resulting in the loss of 70 jobs. The expected start date for the closure and layoffs is June 28, 2024, although it is unclear if other offices will be impacted. In response to a request for comment, a Take-Two spokesperson stated that the company is working to 'identify efficiencies across its business and to enhance the Company's margin profile, while still investing for growth.' This involves 'rationalizing its pipeline and eliminating several projects in development and streamlining its organizational structure, which will eliminate headcount and reduce future hiring needs.' The company has chosen not to provide further details on this program. The news follows an announcement from the publisher last month regarding plans to lay off around 5% of its workforce, estimated to be approximately 580 people, by the end of the year. This marks the third cost-cutting initiative undertaken by Take-Two since February 2023.
