ArcheAge Servers in North America and Europe to Shut Down This June
Kakao Games has announced that it will be discontinuing service for ArcheAge in North America and Europe, effective June 27, marking the end of the game's nearly decade-long run. Initially released in 2015, the open-world MMO developed by XL Games has seen its player base dwindle over time. According to Kakao Games, the decision to sunset the game was made after careful consideration of its performance, which revealed that the game could no longer deliver the experience it was designed to provide. The company stated, "Following an in-depth discussion with XL Games about ArcheAge's performance, we regret to conclude that we can no longer offer the envisioned MMORPG experience. The significant decrease in active players has altered the gameplay, making it inaccessible as it once was, and differing from its original intent. As a result, we have made the tough decision to discontinue ArcheAge's live service in Europe and North America." Additionally, Kakao Games will provide refunds for any in-game purchases made within the two weeks preceding the shutdown announcement.
