Survey Reveals 70% of Developers Worry About Live Service Games' Long-Term Viability

A recent report by Game Developer Collective indicates that 70% of game developers express concern over the current business model of live-service games, which are characterized by continuous updates and in-app purchases, according to an Omdia survey. The data, collected from 600 respondents between February and March, also shows that 63% of developers are primarily concerned that players will lose interest in these games. This concern is echoed by a separate report from Griffin Gaming Partners, which found that 95% of game makers from 537 studios are involved in the development or maintenance of live service games, further highlighting the significance of this issue.
