Fallout 4 Reclaims Top Spot in Europe Following TV Series Debut
Across Europe, Fallout game sales have experienced a significant surge, with Fallout 4 regaining its position as the number one title. According to GSD data, which tracks digital sales across all European markets and physical sales in major countries such as the UK, France, Germany, Italy, and Spain, Fallout 4's sales skyrocketed by over 7,500% week-over-week. The spike in sales can be attributed to substantial discounts on Fallout franchise games across all platforms, a move designed to coincide with the release of the Fallout TV series on Amazon Prime, which has garnered immense popularity. PC sales accounted for 69% of Fallout 4's total sales for the week, while the remaining sales were split between PlayStation and Xbox. Notably, the game is available for free to Xbox Game Pass and PlayStation Plus Extra subscribers, although this data is not included in the sales figures. Additionally, the game can be accessed by Amazon Luna users. Meanwhile, Fallout 76 secured the eighth spot, with 85% of its sales coming from PC, despite being available on Game Pass and PS Plus. Fallout: New Vegas and Fallout 3 ranked ninth and tenth, respectively. Further down the charts, the Fallout Classic Collection rose to 43rd, Fallout 2 ranked 57th, and the original Fallout ranked 70th. Given the ongoing popularity of the Fallout TV series, it is likely that the games will maintain their presence in the charts for the foreseeable future. The GSD digital data encompasses sales from participating companies, including Activision Blizzard, Bandai Namco, Capcom, and others, sold via platforms like Steam, Xbox Live, and PlayStation Network. The digital data covers sales in numerous European countries, including Austria, Belgium, and the UK, while physical data is limited to major markets such as France, Germany, and Italy.
