Apple Pulls GBA Emulator from App Store Shelves

Apple has taken down the iBGA Game Boy Advance emulator application from its App Store. According to a report by MacRumors, the removal stemmed from the app's violation of spam and copyright policies, rather than piracy issues. It was found that iBGA was essentially a copy of the open-source GBA4iOS app, but with added advertisements. Furthermore, an Apple spokesperson stated that emulators available on the App Store are permitted to load ROMs downloaded from the internet, but only if they are emulating titles from retro consoles. However, the spokesperson failed to provide a clear definition of what constitutes a retro console. This development comes just a week after Apple globally lifted its restrictions on video game emulators on the App Store.
