Kwalee Undergoes Staff Restructuring as Part of Business Realignment
Kwalee has become the latest mobile gaming company to implement a restructuring plan, aimed at optimizing its operations to capitalize on emerging growth opportunities. Over the past few months, the company has been streamlining its workforce, although the exact number of redundancies has not been disclosed. According to insider sources, approximately 40 staff members have been affected, which accounts for roughly 10% of the company's total workforce. The layoffs have primarily impacted the quality assurance and recruitment departments, with some developers and artists also being let go. The company's headquarters in Leamington Spa and its Indian branch in Bangalore have been the most affected. Despite the layoffs, Kwalee has stated that fewer than 40 employees have been let go and reaffirmed its plans to increase its headcount from 346 last year to between 410 and 420. A company spokesperson stated, 'We are reorganizing our business to seize the significant growth opportunities in the sector, including filling 20 new positions.' The spokesperson added, 'Kwalee boasts the necessary global presence, management expertise, and financial backing, combined with a unique strategy to leverage both organic and acquisitive growth opportunities.'
