Nintendo to Sit Out Gamescom This Year

Nintendo has confirmed it will not be attending this year's Gamescom, as reported by Games Wirtschaft and noted by Video Games Chronicle. A representative from Nintendo of Europe stated, "Gamescom is typically a key event for us, but after careful consideration, we have decided not to participate in Cologne this time around. Instead, fans will have the opportunity to experience Nintendo Switch games at various events taking place throughout Germany." This reasoning echoes the company's explanation for skipping Gamescom in 2022, with the main difference being that in 2022, Nintendo mentioned participating in "numerous" other German events and named a few of them. The current Switch lineup for 2024 includes Endless Ocean: Luminous, remakes of Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door and Luigi's Mansion 2: Dark Moon, and the anticipated Metroid Prime 4, although the latter has undergone a reboot and its status remains unclear.
