Koei Tecmo Takes Youzu to Court Over Alleged Copyright Infringement
A lawsuit has been initiated by Koei Tecmo against Youzu's Singapore-based subsidiary, citing unauthorized use of copyrighted materials from its Nobunanga's Ambition and Taiko Risshiden franchises in online promotional campaigns. The complaint, filed with the Tokyo District Court on April 8, was discovered by Automation-Media. According to the lawsuit, Koei Tecmo had issued multiple warnings to Youzu to cease its allegedly infringing activities, which continued despite these notices. In a statement, Koei Tecmo expressed that Youzu's actions are not only harmful to users and partners but also undermine the efforts of all parties involved in game development, characterizing them as highly malicious. The company, known for its 2023 release Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty, is seeking compensation for damages through this lawsuit.
