Command & Conquer Dominates European March Charts with Improved Sales

The Command & Conquer series experienced a surge in popularity in Europe during March, following the release of a game bundle on Steam. As a result, five titles from the iconic strategy series secured spots in the Top Ten, with Command & Conquer Generals leading the charge at No.4. This led to new releases such as WWE 2K24, Rise Of The Ronin, and Princess Peach Showtime charting lower than anticipated, with 11 Command & Conquer titles making it into the Top 20. According to GSD, which tracks digital and physical console and PC game sales, a total of 15.9 million games were sold across European markets, representing a 35% increase over the same period last year. For the quarter, game sales are up over 9% across Europe, exceeding analyst predictions despite the absence of Palworld data. EA Sports FC24 reclaimed its position at No.1, while Helldivers 2 dropped to No.2. Capcom's Dragon's Dogma 2 was a notable exception, managing to break through the Command & Conquer dominance with a strong European launch. In terms of hardware, console sales declined by 27% to 317,090 units, with the PS5 experiencing the largest drop of nearly 31% year-on-year. The PS5 remains the best-selling console in Europe, however. Accessory sales saw a slight decline of 0.3%, with the DualSense controller for PS5 leading the way.
