Yu Miyake to Step Down as Dragon Quest Producer

According to sources, Yu Miyake is reportedly transitioning from his role as producer on the Dragon Quest series to lead Square Enix's mobile gaming division. Bloomberg reports that Miyake's new position will involve overseeing the company's smartphone games. Meanwhile, Yosuke Saito, the producer behind Nier Automata, is allegedly being considered as Miyake's replacement. This move is said to be part of Square Enix's broader restructuring efforts, which began on April 1. The company's president, Takashi Kiryu, announced these plans last November, citing the need for greater diversity in its game lineup and a more streamlined development process. With a career spanning over three decades, Miyake has been instrumental in shaping the Dragon Quest series since 1992, with his most recent credit being Dragon Quest Monsters: The Dark Prince in 2023.
