A16Z Games Commits $75 Million to Accelerator Initiative

A16Z Games, a prominent venture capital firm, is allocating $75 million towards its annual accelerator program designed for pre-seed gaming startups. The Speedrun Tech x Games accelerator, a 12-week initiative, provides participants with substantial investment, expert mentorship, and vital industry connections to secure additional funding. Successful applicants will receive $750,000 in funding, with the application window open until May 19. This year's program, scheduled to commence on July 29, 2024, will conclude with a demo day during San Francisco Tech Week in October. According to Josh Lu, investing partner for A16Z Games, 'The Speedrun program delivers more than just financial backing; it also offers a team of seasoned operators and partners with extensive experience in the gaming industry, equipping participants with the knowledge needed to successfully launch their products.' Lu added, 'The achievements of Speedrun founders have been truly remarkable, and we look forward to seeing the innovative ideas and products that emerge from this year's program.'
