Ubisoft Experiences New Round of Layoffs

Ubisoft has revealed a fresh wave of layoffs, impacting 45 employees across its global publishing and Asia-Pacific divisions. According to GameSpot, the gaming company attributed this move to its efforts to "simplify operations" and enhance overall efficiency. In a statement, Ubisoft explained, "We are continuing to restructure our global publishing central and APAC departments to better align with the evolving market, adopting a more streamlined and adaptable approach." "We understand the gravity of such decisions and are committed to providing extensive support to our affected colleagues. We also wish to express our deepest appreciation for their significant contributions to the company." This latest round of layoffs follows previous cutbacks, including 124 positions eliminated from Ubisoft's VFX and IT departments last November, and 60 customer service roles made redundant in May. In its February financial report, Ubisoft disclosed a modest increase in net bookings, alongside a revenue decline. The company's net bookings for the nine-month period ending December 31, 2023, rose 1.6% year-over-year to €1.449 billion, while revenue decreased 4.1% to €1.443 billion.
