Yellow Brick Games Embarks on Self-Publishing Journey for Debut Title
In a significant shift, Yellow Brick Games has opted to part ways with its publisher, Private Division, to handle the release of its inaugural game independently. Scheduled for launch in 2025, this untitled fantasy action-adventure project has been under development for four years. A brief teaser was unveiled recently, with a full reveal slated for April 2, exclusively on IGN. "Venturing into self-publishing is a bold move, especially given the current state of the industry," noted Mike Laidlaw, CCO. "However, it also presents us with the opportunity to take charge of our own destiny and engage directly with players and the broader gaming community. Thomas Giroux, co-founder and CEO, added: "We view this transition in a very positive light, as it allows us to have full control over our studio's vision and the game's scope remains unchanged. The quality of the player experience will continue to be our top priority." Initially, the Quebec City-based studio had partnered with Private Division back in 2022. Yellow Brick Games was established in 2020 by industry veterans, including Laidlaw, Giroux, Jeff Skalski, and Frédéric St-Laurent B. In March 2023, the developer expanded its presence with the opening of a new studio in Montreal, marking its second location in Canada.
