Toys for Bob reportedly inks Microsoft deal after gaining independence
It has been reported that Toys for Bob has entered into a partnership with Microsoft subsequent to its separation from the company last month. As per Windows Central, the studio has secured an agreement with Xbox to fund its upcoming title as an independent entity. The developer behind Crash Bandicoot and Spyro had previously indicated its intention to explore potential partnerships, as stated on the company's website in February. In a statement, studio heads Paul Yan and Avery Lodato expressed enthusiasm for developing new stories, characters, and gameplay experiences, saying, "Although we are still in the early stages of creating our next game, our team is eager to craft new narratives, introduce new characters, and design innovative gameplay mechanics." "We appreciate the support of our friends at Activision and Microsoft as we embark on this new path, and we are confident that our collaboration will continue in the future," they added. GamesIndustry.biz has contacted Toys for Bob and Microsoft for further comment. Toys for Bob's decision to become independent followed a series of layoffs in January, which resulted in 87 redundancies and the closure of its physical office in San Francisco.
