Renowned Game Developer Shinji Mikami Establishes New Studio

According to recent reports, Shinji Mikami, the founder of Tango Gameworks, has embarked on a new venture by launching a studio named Kamuy. The discovery was made when the website for the upcoming game Shadows of the Damned: Hella Remastered listed Mikami as one of its creators, with a bio mentioning the establishment of Kamuy. At present, details about the new studio are scarce, and Mikami has not officially commented on the development. Mikami's departure from Tango Gameworks occurred in February 2023, marking the end of a 13-year tenure as the studio's founder. Prior to founding Tango Gameworks, Mikami spent two decades at Capcom, where he directed the original Resident Evil and Resident Evil 4, and briefly worked at PlatinumGames. During his time at Tango Gameworks, Mikami directed the studio's debut title, The Evil Within, followed by The Evil Within 2 in 2017, Ghostwire: Tokyo in 2022, and Hi-Fi Rush in 2023.
