Jen Glennon, the editor-in-chief of Kotaku, has reportedly left her position due to a change in the publication's editorial direction, as mandated by its parent company, G/O Media. According to sources, this new direction involves focusing on game guides at the expense of news reporting. In her resignation letter, Glennon expressed strong disagreement with this strategy, stating that it is 'misguided' and disregards the well-being of the site's writers and editors. The decision is said to be contradicted by traffic data and is expected to result in the creation of 50 guides per week by Kotaku staff. This shift is already evident on the site's landing page, which now features tips and guides instead of major stories and breaking news. Glennon's departure marks the second time in under a year that Kotaku has lost an editor-in-chief, following the reported firing of Patricia Hernandez in August 2023.
