February Sees 2% Uptick in US Gaming Spending
US gaming expenditure reached $4.7 billion in February, marking a 2% year-over-year increase, as per the latest data from Circana. The software segment experienced a 5% growth, generating $4.1 billion in revenue. However, gaming hardware sales declined by 30% year-over-year, totaling $349 million. The PlayStation 5 was the top-selling console in terms of both unit and dollar sales for February, and it also leads in these categories year-to-date. The Nintendo Switch came in second for console unit sales, while the Xbox Series X|S systems ranked second in dollar sales. Accessory revenue saw a 25% year-over-year increase, reaching $219 million for the month, with the PlayStation 5 Dual Sense Edge Wireless Controller Black being the best-selling peripheral. Helldivers 2 took the top spot as the best-selling game in February. Other new releases, such as Final Fantasy 7: Rebirth and Skull and Bones, also made it to the top-selling charts, with the former being the second best-selling title and the latter ranking fourth.
