Sensor Tower Completes Acquisition of Data.ai
In a significant move, Sensor Tower has finalized the acquisition of Data.ai, a prominent mobile marketing firm, for an undisclosed amount. As a result of this deal, an unspecified number of Data.ai employees will be let go. According to reports from TechCrunch, Sensor Tower aims to leverage Data.ai's expertise to bolster its presence in the digital marketing and mobile sectors, while expanding its customer base and product portfolio. Following the acquisition, Sensor Tower's platforms will continue to operate independently, with no changes to their consumer-focused services, and the company's leadership team will remain intact, overseeing both Sensor Tower and Data.ai. However, the acquisition will lead to an unknown number of layoffs at Data.ai. Sensor Tower CEO Oliver Yeh stated, "As we bring together Sensor Tower and Data.ai, we are excited to welcome new team members. This merger also requires us to optimize our team structure, and we are committed to supporting our departing colleagues during this transition." Yeh further commented, "We have long respected Data.ai's exceptional product and talented team. This acquisition enables Sensor Tower to expand its reach and provide best-in-class services to any company participating in the digital economy, ultimately bridging the gap between companies and consumers." Data.ai CEO Ted Krantz added, "This development offers the best path to innovation, providing more insights across multiple channels and greater value for our clients." The transaction was financed by Bain Capital Credit, with additional investment from Riverwood Capital and new investment from Paramark Ventures. In an update, it was reported that 200 Data.ai employees were laid off following the acquisition, with affected staff members including those in sales, operations, and account management, as noted on social media posts.
