Thunderful Renews Distribution Partnership with Nintendo

Thunderful Group has successfully extended its longstanding partnership with Nintendo, retaining its role as the platform holder's distributor for the Nordic and Baltic regions. The agreement, initially set to expire on March 31, 2024, has been prolonged for another two years under the same terms. Bergsala, a subsidiary of Thunderful, has been distributing Nintendo products since 1981 and plays a significant role in the group's financial performance. Despite reporting a loss of $59.2 million in 2023, largely due to declining distribution sales, including weaker Switch hardware sales, Thunderful is optimistic about the future. The company is looking forward to the launch of Nintendo's upcoming console, rumored to arrive in 2025. CEO Martin Walfisz expressed pride in the long-standing partnership with Nintendo, citing the unique relationship that dates back to the 1980s. Thunderful's games division achieved record sales in Q4 2023, with the SteamWorld series being a key contributor, although sales of SteamWorld Build were slightly below expectations due to the genre change.
