Renowned Character Designer Mutsumi Inomata Passes Away

Acclaimed character designer Mutsumi Inomata, best known for her work on the Tales of series, has passed away at the age of 63. The news was announced by her sister via Inomata's official social media account, revealing that she died on March 10, though the cause of death remains undisclosed. Inomata's journey in the gaming industry began in 1986 with her design work on the PC game Alpha. She then went on to create character designs for Bandai Namco's Tales of series, starting with 1997's Tales of Destiny for the PlayStation, and more recently, Tales of Crestoria and Tales of Berseria. In addition to her work on the Tales of series, Inomata also contributed to several Tekken titles, including Tekken Tag Tournament 2, Tekken: Dark Resurrection, and Tekken 5. Following her passing, Tekken producer Katsuhiro Harada paid tribute to Inomata on social media, expressing his deep shock and sadness at her untimely death. Harada recalled fond memories of Inomata visiting his office to play games together, describing her as a talented individual who left too soon.
