Deviation Games Shuts Down After Cancelled PlayStation Project
Deviation Games, a AAA game developer, has announced its closure. Founded in 2020 by industry veterans Jason Blundell and Dave Anthony, the studio had rapidly expanded to over 100 employees by 2021. It had also secured a partnership with PlayStation to develop an original IP. However, the project encountered difficulties, leading to Blundell's departure in 2022 and significant layoffs in May last year. In a statement, chief HR and operations officer Kriste Stull expressed gratitude to the team and announced a networking event for the industry. In a past interview, Dave Anthony had spoken highly of the PlayStation partnership, citing financial security and creative freedom. Despite this, the studio's journey has come to an end, with Stull encouraging former employees to move forward and 'go get 'em'.
