Brain Jar Games Raises $6.7 Million in Seed Funding

Brain Jar Games has successfully secured $6.7 million in funding through a seed round, with plans to allocate the investment towards its first project, Dead as Disco. According to reports by Games Beat, the funding round was spearheaded by Transcend Fund and Menlo Ventures, with additional participation from 1UP Ventures. The studio also received financial backing from various advisors and angel investors, including Chris Rigopulos, former COO of Harmonix, Nate Mitchell, co-founder of Oculus, Eden Chen, CEO of Pragma, and David Stelzer, president of Xsolla. Studio CEO and co-founder Will Cook noted, "What Transcend appreciated was our focus on our audience and success, as well as our commitment to developing a premium game. We didn't make grand promises, instead, we outlined a clear method for achieving our goals." Transcend general partner Brett Krause added, "Will Cook's vision extends beyond creating an enjoyable game; he aims to establish a company that serves as a platform for musicians and creators, and he has assembled a talented team to bring this vision to life." Brain Jar Games, co-founded by Cook, comprises developers from renowned studios such as Trion Worlds and Flying Wild Hog, as reported by Game Developer. The studio's debut game is expected to launch in 2025.
