UK Gaming Market Sees Helldivers 2 Shine in February
The UK gaming market witnessed a 5.5% decline in video game sales during February, with 2.77 million units sold. Despite this drop, Helldivers 2 emerged as a major hit, securing the top spot and achieving a rare feat of increasing sales week-over-week. The game's success is all the more impressive given its relatively unknown franchise, with sales only 28% lower than Spider-Man 2's debut last year. In contrast, Warner Bros' Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League and Skull and Bones failed to meet expectations, with the former's sales 20% lower than Gotham Knights and the latter's opening two weeks 75% lower than Sea of Thieves. The console market also saw a decline, with 95,855 units sold, a 33% drop year-over-year. The PS5 led the market, but its sales were down 2% month-on-month and 28% year-on-year. The accessories market saw a 12% decline in sales, but the white DualSense PS5 controller and Robot White Wireless Xbox controller remained top sellers. Sony's Pulse Elite Premium Headset made a strong debut, ranking fourth in volume and first in revenue among gaming headsets.
