Warner Bros. Shifts Focus to Live Services and Mobile Gaming to Stabilize AAA Console Market

Warner Bros. Discovery's gaming division has traditionally concentrated on AAA console games, but CEO and president of global streaming and games JB Perrette is seeking to diversify the company's portfolio. According to Perrette, the company will explore live services and mobile free-to-play games to reduce its dependence on AAA console releases. Perrette envisions games that offer persistent, interactive environments, such as the Harry Potter universe, where players can engage in ongoing activities. The company plans to launch mobile free-to-play games later this year and expects its new gaming strategy to yield growth between 2025 and 2027.
