Saber Interactive Regains Independence in $500m Deal with Embracer

In a significant move, Embracer Group is set to divest Saber Interactive to a private investment group for a sum of up to $500 million. According to a source cited by Bloomberg, Saber will continue working on the highly-anticipated remake of Star Wars: The Knights of the Old Republic. This transaction marks a major step in Embracer's restructuring efforts, which were prompted by the collapse of a $2 billion deal, leading to widespread layoffs and studio closures. Originally acquired by Embracer in 2020 for $525 million, Saber Interactive is now poised to regain its independence. Notably, the studio took over the development of the Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic remake in 2022, after the project was put on indefinite hold. This year, Saber is expected to release several notable titles, including Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2, John Carpenter's Toxic Commando, and Expeditions: A Mudrunner Game.
