Production Halted at Die Gute Fabrik

Die Gute Fabrik has ceased operations for the time being, having announced that it suspended work the previous week due to an inability to secure funding for its upcoming project. Although the studio remains hopeful that it will find funding to resume production, the entire team, including CEO and creative director Hannah Nicklin and co-owner and artistic director Nils Deneken, is currently exploring new opportunities. The Die Gute Fabrik entity will continue to maintain its existing games, with plans for Deneken to assume the role of CEO if funding is obtained in the future. In a statement on BlueSky, the studio expressed pride in its accomplishments since 2008 and gratitude to players. The studio's latest release, Saltsea Chronicles, debuted on Steam, PS5, and Switch in October to critical acclaim, including a five-star review from Eurogamer, but failed to achieve the desired sales figures, with only 71 user reviews on Steam despite a 98% positive rating. Die Gute Fabrik's portfolio also includes Mutazione, released in 2019, and the PlayStation Move titles Sportsfriends and Johann Sebastian Joust, the latter of which received the Innovation Award at the 2012 Game Developers Choice Awards.
