ZA/UM Allegedly Preparing for Staff Reductions

It has been reported that ZA/UM, the development studio behind Disco Elysium, is planning to downsize its workforce by letting go of 24 employees, alongside the termination of a project known as X7. According to information obtained by Sports Illustrated's GLHF, ZA/UM's CEO, Ilmar Kompus, communicated this decision to the staff, stating that it would affect both the X7 project team and non-development departments. Another internal message, accessed by GLHF, revealed that various roles, including writers, engineers, artists, production staff, IT personnel, and animators, are at risk of being made redundant. Sources claim that the X7 project was an expansion for Disco Elysium, with ZA/UM's president, Ed Tomaszewski, allegedly stating during a staff call that the project was approximately one to two years away from completion. GamesIndustry.biz has contacted ZA/UM for further details and clarification on the matter.
