Daybreak Confirms Layoffs Affecting Under 15 Employees

Daybreak has acknowledged a reduction in staff, as confirmed to GamesIndustry.biz. Earlier in the week, the layoffs were initially reported on LinkedIn by Amir Satvat, who has been documenting industry-wide job cuts since 2022. Satvat initially stated that 70 employees were impacted, but later corrected this figure, deeming it inaccurate. A Daybreak spokesperson revealed that the actual number of affected staff members is fewer than 15. "We confirm that a limited number of employees, fewer than 15, have been let go as part of our overall business assessment and realignment," the spokesperson stated. "Although unfortunate, the video game industry is fraught with challenges, necessitating periodic workforce reviews and adjustments. We are providing severance packages and transition assistance to those affected and wish them well in their future pursuits." According to Satvat, the layoffs impacted teams working on Everquest, Dungeons & Dragons Online, DC Universe Online, and Lord of the Rings Online.
