Supercell Sees 4.2% Decline in Revenue to €1.7 Billion in 2023

Supercell has released its financial report for 2023, revealing a 4.2% decline in revenue to €1.7 billion compared to the previous year. According to CEO Ilkka Paananen, this downturn is attributed to a sluggish start in game sales during the first half of 2023, as well as the overall state of the mobile gaming market. However, the company's live games segment experienced growth each quarter, largely due to the success of Brawl Stars, which saw its player base triple since the summer prior and has become the company's top title. The game, launched in 2017, reached $2 billion in revenue by September. Additionally, Supercell contributed €110 million to Finland's economy through taxes in 2023 and expanded its workforce by 175, bringing the total number of employees to 525. The company also reported over 220 million monthly players across its portfolio. Looking forward, Paananen expressed optimism for the new year, citing the team's strength and size, as well as upcoming releases such as Clash Mini, Squad Busters, and Mo.co.
