Twitch Sees 6% Viewership Increase in January

January brought a notable 6% increase in viewership for Twitch, with a total of 1.9 billion hours watched, as per the monthly State of the Stream report by StreamElements and Rainmaker.gg. This surpasses the 1.8 billion hours watched in the same month last year. Daily hours watched averaged 61.4 million, marking continued growth since September 2023. The newly released survival game Palworld gained significant traction, accumulating 59 million hours watched. Grand Theft Auto 5 and League of Legends maintained their lead in viewership, while Escape from Tarkov's surge to the third most-watched title was attributed to Twitch drops. The top-viewed games for the month included Grand Theft Auto 5 with 179 million hours, League of Legends with 101 million hours, and Escape from Tarkov with 82 million hours. Other notable games were Fortnite, Palworld, Valorant, CS: GO, Minecraft, and DOTA 2. According to Stream Elements co-founder Or Perry, 'The consistent growth in daily hours watched over five consecutive months is promising, but it's premature to conclude if the broader gaming audience is embracing Twitch, given January's typically higher viewership compared to December.'
