Konami's Momotaro Dentetsu World Regains Top Spot in Japan's Monthly Charts
Following its release in November, Momotaro Dentetsu World: The Earth Spins with Hope has reclaimed the top position in Japan's monthly charts. According to data from Famitsu, the Konami title shifted 153,137 copies in January, having previously ranked third the month before. Super Mario Bros Wonder secured the second spot with 151,569 units sold. Like A Dragon: Infinite Wealth, which launched on January 26, debuted at number three on the PS5 with 102,940 copies sold, while the PS4 version ranked sixth with 77,134 units sold. If combined, the game would have easily taken the top spot. Spider-Man 2 ranked fourth with 98,157 units sold, followed by the new release Shiren the Wanderer: The Mystery Dungeon of Serpentcoil Island, which sold 85,424 copies. In terms of hardware sales, the Switch led the way across its three versions with 241,282 units sold, with the majority being the OLED model. The PS5 followed in second place with 185,480 units sold, and the Xbox came in third with 7,654 units. Nintendo dominated the market share of physical game units sold during this period with 34.1%, followed by Sega at 12.3% and Konami at 10.2%.
