1SP Agency Expands Portfolio with Acquisition of UK-Based Renaissance PR
The German-based marketing and communications agency, 1SP, has announced the acquisition of Renaissance PR, a UK-based communications firm. This move is part of 1SP's strategy to establish a 'superagency' that caters to the tech and gaming industries. Renaissance PR joins a network of companies, including MSM.digital, Insight, FLZR, Studio CO2, and CAD-Laif, which collectively provide a range of services such as retail sales, creator marketing, AR, and other creative solutions. Founded in 2015 by former Ubisoft PR veteran Stefano Petrullo, Renaissance PR has worked with prominent clients like Curve Games, Futurlab, IIDEA, Kepler, Milestone, Plaion, Private Division, Revolution, Team17, Tencent, and many others. According to 1SP Agency CEO Torsten Oppermann, the acquisition is driven by the company's ambition to fill geographical gaps and expand its service portfolio. 'We found that Stefano and his team are one of the most passionate and dedicated groups of professionals in our industry,' Oppermann stated. 'They have been a reliable and experienced partner for us for many years, and we are excited to have them on board.' Petrullo expressed his enthusiasm for the acquisition, stating that it will enable Renaissance PR to grow its capabilities significantly and provide a broader range of services to its clients. 'We suddenly have an increased service portfolio, not only geographically but also in terms of our ability to run campaigns from awareness to sales along all touchpoints of the customer journey,' he explained. Oppermann highlighted 1SP's focus on games, consumer electronics, and tech, and revealed plans to further expand the agency's presence in Europe. 'We are probably already Europe's largest specialized 'Superagency' with over 300 gaming and tech enthusiasts, offices in most major European markets, operating in 29 languages and more than 20 different cultures,' he said. Despite the current challenges facing the video games industry, including lay-offs, studio closures, and product cancellations, Oppermann and Petrullo remain optimistic about the future. 'I have been an agency entrepreneur since 2001, and part of the games industry since the end of the 1980s,' Oppermann said. 'Business planning has never been more difficult, but we are happy to say that we managed to quadruple our business between 2022 and 2023.' Petrullo added, 'The industry will survive and continue to grow, despite all that has happened recently. There is still money in the industry, and capital is being invested, but in a more curated way. Gamers want new great titles all the time, and we are well-positioned to support our clients in delivering those titles.'
