UK Gaming Market Sees Decline in January, Despite Strong Showings from EA Sports FC and The Last of Us Part 2

The UK gaming market witnessed a 3% decline in game sales, with 2.47 million units sold in January, according to data from GSD. This drop is attributed to a comparison with the same period last year. EA Sports FC 24 took the top spot, outperforming its predecessor FIFA 23. The Last of Us Part 2: Remastered also had a strong debut, selling over two and a half times more copies than The Last of Us Part 1 in its opening two weeks. New releases, including Tekken 8, also made a notable impact on the charts. Console sales, however, experienced a 19% decline, with all major platforms posting year-on-year drops. The market for accessories saw a 10% increase, driven by controller sales for Xbox and PlayStation consoles.
