Layoffs Strike Visual Concepts Austin
It has been reported that 2K Games has cut an unspecified number of jobs at its Visual Concepts Austin studio. According to Game Developer, former art manager Brad Bowling took to LinkedIn to announce that he and a group of skilled developers were among those laid off. Bowling expressed his gratitude for the experience, stating that he had enjoyed working with top industry professionals over the past couple of years. He also noted that, in his 23 years of creating game art, he had never seen a downturn like this. Another former employee, Sydney F, a software engineer, also shared on LinkedIn that they had been let go along with several colleagues. GamesIndustry.biz has contacted 2K Games for further clarification on the matter. This is the second round of layoffs at Visual Concepts Austin, following a similar incident in September that affected multiple departments. The studio, acquired by 2K Games in 2021, had previously worked on notable titles such as NBA 2K21 and the web game PackRat.
