Nintendo Sees $2.7 Billion Profit Despite Slowing Switch Sales

Nintendo has reported an increase in sales and net profit for the nine months ending December 31, which may be the final holiday season before the release of the Switch's successor. Although hardware and software sales declined, the company has slightly raised its forecast for the full year. Key figures include net sales of ¥1.4 trillion ($9.4 billion), up 7.7% year-over-year, and net profit of ¥408 billion ($2.7 billion), up 17.9% year-over-year. The company sold 13.7 million Switch units, a 7.8% decrease from the previous year, with the OLED model seeing a 6.2% increase and the Switch Lite a 9.1% increase. Nintendo has cited 'stable' sales given the platform's age and stated that results were generally in line with expectations. The company has also seen strong sales of new titles, with 24 games selling over a million units, including third-party titles. The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom and Super Mario Bros Wonder have seen significant sales, with 20.3 million and 12 million units sold, respectively. Digital sales have increased by 11.7% year-over-year, and Nintendo has recorded its 'highest ever' number of annual players, with 122 million users. The company has adjusted its full-year forecast, expecting to sell 15.5 million hardware units and 190 million software units.
