Veterans from Mojang and Toca Boca Launch New Gaming Studio Roro
A group of former Mojang Studios and Toca Boca employees have collaborated to establish Roro, a novel game development studio. The studio's founders include CEO William Sampson, Robin Flodin, and Kristoffer Jelbring, all of whom bring extensive experience to the table. Sampson's background includes a four-year tenure as general manager at Toca Boca, while Flodin boasts a seven-year stint as CEO of Toadman Interactive. Jelbring, meanwhile, has spent nine years at Mojang Studios, accumulating valuable expertise. Roro has successfully secured €1.5m in its inaugural investment round, with Node.vc taking the lead and FOV Ventures participating. These funds will be allocated towards the development of the studio's debut project, an interactive digital dollhouse designed to foster creativity and self-expression. As Sampson noted, "In recent years, the gaming industry has come to recognize the potential of unstructured play, yet the importance of creative play and self-expression remains underappreciated, with few studios creating innovative experiences for their audience."
