GameSpot Experiences Staff Reduction
GameSpot, a gaming outlet owned by Fandom, has undergone a new round of staff layoffs, as confirmed by current and former employees on social media platforms. Although the employees' posts do not provide specific details about the extent or focus of the layoffs, they mention that a certain number of staff members were let go. A spokesperson for Fandom declined to comment on the matter, stating that the company will not be issuing a statement. This marks the second round of layoffs at GameSpot since Fandom acquired the site, along with other properties, from Red Ventures in October 2022. The first round of layoffs occurred just over a year ago and also affected GameSpot's sister site, Giant Bomb. It remains unclear whether the current layoffs are limited to GameSpot or if they affect other parts of Fandom's operations.
