Seizure of Fake Square Enix Goods in China

Square Enix has announced that a group of individuals have been prosecuted for their role in distributing counterfeit goods in China. In a statement, the company disclosed that nine individuals were charged in May 2023 in Guangdong province, with six accused of distributing the fake products and three charged with manufacturing them. The crackdown resulted in the seizure of counterfeit items featuring characters from the Final Fantasy and Nier: Automata franchises. The action was initiated after Square Enix conducted its own investigation and collaborated with a specialist firm and industry partners. The company reaffirmed its commitment to protecting its intellectual property to ensure the delivery of high-quality products and services, while also maintaining its brand reputation. Square Enix urged its customers and distributors to be cautious and take steps to protect themselves from counterfeit goods.
