Major Layoffs Hit Black Forest Games, Affecting Half of Staff

According to recent reports, Black Forest Games, a subsidiary of THQ Nordic and Embracer, has reduced its workforce by 50%. Citing sources, Kotaku revealed that the layoffs were announced the previous day, with the studio's creative directors and the majority of its management team expected to retain their positions. GamesIndustry.biz has contacted Black Forest Games and Embracer Group for further details on the layoffs. The German game developer, known for rebooting the Destroy All Humans series, is currently working on Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Last Ronin. This move follows a similar pattern of layoffs at Embracer-owned studios, including Lost Boys Interactive, which recently let go of a significant number of employees. Since announcing its restructuring plans in July last year, the Embracer Group has cut over 900 jobs across its subsidiaries.
