People Can Fly Announces Staff Reductions

People Can Fly, the development studio behind Outriders, is set to downsize its workforce by over 30 employees. According to sources cited by Kotaku, the decision was communicated to staff by development director Adam Alker, who cited budget limitations and a reduced project scope as the reasons for the layoffs. In an internal memo, Alker expressed appreciation for the affected employees' hard work and dedication. The layoffs include around 20 developers working on Project Gemini, a Square Enix-published title. This move follows a challenging period for the studio, which reported that Outriders was not profitable in 2021 and terminated a development and publishing deal with Take-Two Interactive for Project Dagger in 2022. The job cuts at People Can Fly are part of a larger trend of industry redundancies, with similar announcements from Riot Games and One Player Mission.
