Palworld Achieves Record-Breaking Sales of 4 Million and Ranks Fifth in Concurrent Steam Players
The survival game Palworld experienced a phenomenal launch over the weekend, with sales exceeding four million units within a mere three-day period. Despite being in Early Access, the game has garnered significant attention and is also available through Xbox Game Pass. According to the developer PocketPair, the game was selling at an impressive rate of 86,000 copies per hour. Palworld reached a peak of 1.29 million concurrent players on Steam, securing the fifth-highest spot in Steam's history, as reported by SteamDB. This figure positions it behind notable titles such as Dota 2, Lost Ark, Counter-Strike 2, and PUBG: Battlegrounds, yet surpasses the likes of Cyberpunk 2077, Elden Ring, New World, Hogwarts Legacy, and Baldur's Gate 3. Dubbed 'Pokémon with guns,' the game's success was anticipated due to its 110,000 Steam followers just two weeks prior and its ranking in the Top Ten most Wishlisted games. However, the actual outcome has far exceeded initial expectations. Notably, Palworld's success has been achieved despite encountering server issues, prompting an emergency meeting between PocketPair and Epic Online Services, with some connectivity problems still persisting. The game has sparked controversy online due to the perceived similarities between its creatures and those found in Pokémon, yet it maintains a 'Very Positive' user rating on Steam, indicating overall fan satisfaction.
