Behaviour Interactive Announces Layoffs Affecting 45 Employees

Behaviour Interactive has confirmed to GamesIndustry.biz that it has undergone a round of layoffs, which accounts for less than 3% of its total workforce and is limited to its Montreal staff. A spokesperson for the company explained, "Due to shifting market conditions, we had to adjust the scope of several projects. Whenever possible, we try to reassign talent to other projects, but unfortunately, this is not always feasible. The recent departures represent a small fraction of our overall workforce." This development comes after reports emerged that the studio behind Dead by Daylight had laid off 45 employees. According to sources, including a report by Kotaku, the layoffs occurred between January 9 and 11, primarily affecting various departments within the Montreal office. Behaviour Interactive employs approximately 1,300 staff members globally, as per its LinkedIn profile. The company has been expanding its operations, with recent acquisitions including SockMonkey Studios in February 2023 and Codeglue in August, as well as the establishment of a new UK studio in Truro, Cornwall, in July.
