Movie Adaptation of Until Dawn in the Works

A film adaptation of the popular horror game Until Dawn is underway, courtesy of PlayStation Productions and Screen Gems, a subsidiary of Sony Pictures Entertainment. The project will be directed by acclaimed Swedish filmmaker David F. Sandberg, known for his work on Annabelle: Creation and the Shazam movies, as reported by The Hollywood Reporter. The screenplay, initially penned by Blair Butler, will undergo revisions by Gary Dauberman, who has previously worked on the Annabelle films and It Chapter Two. According to Screen Gems, the adaptation is envisioned as an R-rated homage to the horror genre. This project marks another step for PlayStation Productions, established in 2019 to bring the company's gaming IPs to the big and small screens, following announcements for film adaptations of Gravity Rush and Days Gone, as well as its involvement in the Uncharted movie. The original Until Dawn game, developed by Supermassive, was released exclusively for the PS4 in 2015 and was later followed by a VR spin-off, Until Dawn: Rush of Blood, and the spiritual successor, The Quarry, in 2022.
