Original report, January 17, 2024: The tally of game development studios experiencing layoffs has expanded, with Pixelberry Studios, based in California, being the latest to downsize its workforce. According to Game Developer, an unspecified number of employees have been let go from the Nexon-owned mobile game studio, with several announcing their departure on LinkedIn. Thus far, the affected personnel appear to include programmers, artists, producers, and quality assurance workers. GamesIndustry.biz has contacted Nexon for confirmation and a statement. Pixelberry is renowned for its interactive mobile titles, including Choices: Stories You Play and High School Story. The studio was acquired by Nexon back in 2017.
