Embracer Group's Lost Boys Interactive Studio Hit by Layoffs
A substantial number of employees at Lost Boys Interactive, a studio owned by Gearbox, have been let go. The news was shared on LinkedIn by former producer Jared Pace, who stated that a significant portion of the studio's workforce was affected. Pace noted that the layoffs impacted all departments and levels of the organization. The exact number of employees let go is currently unknown, with GamesIndustry.biz reaching out to Gearbox for further details. Lost Boys Interactive, founded in 2017, has contributed to notable games such as Borderlands 3 and Tiny Tina's Wonderlands. The studio was acquired by Gearbox in 2022, doubling its staff to over 400 employees. As part of Embracer Group, which acquired Gearbox in 2021, Lost Boys Interactive is the latest studio to experience layoffs amidst the company's restructuring efforts. Embracer Group has laid off over 900 employees since announcing its restructuring plans in July, with the possibility of selling off certain assets, including Gearbox, being considered.
