UK Games Sector to Benefit from Into Games' New Fundraising Initiative
A new fundraising campaign has been launched by Into Games to promote greater diversity within the UK gaming industry. The organization is seeking to raise £100,000 as part of its strategic plan for 2024. According to the nonprofit, this initiative will lay the groundwork for a more inclusive future, where individuals from all backgrounds can access opportunities in the UK gaming sector. The organization's objectives for 2024 include facilitating 160 school programs and hosting six career events focused on the UK gaming industry. Furthermore, Into Games plans to introduce a £30,000 national scholarship program, designed to provide financial assistance to young people from working-class backgrounds, covering expenses such as equipment, event fees, and training. It is noted that individuals from working-class backgrounds are eight times less likely to pursue a career in the gaming industry. Additionally, statistics indicate that over 30% of UK gaming professionals have attended selective, independent, or fee-paying schools.
