Hogwarts Legacy has held on to the top spot in the UK's first physical game charts of 2024, with a notable increase in PS5 sales despite a 46% overall sales decline, according to GfK's latest report. As the best-selling physical game in the UK for 2023, Avalanche Software's title continues to thrive in the new year. EA Sports FC 24 secured the second position with a 9% sales boost, rising from sixth place and pushing Super Mario Bros Wonder down to third. Mortal Kombat 11 jumped from eighth to fourth due to PS5 price cuts, while Mario Kart 8 Deluxe fell to fifth despite a 50% drop in sales. The Sims 4: For Rent made its debut at number 16, marking the only new entry in the UK boxed charts this week. Other titles, such as It Takes Two, Ring Fit Adventure, the Mafia Trilogy, the Dark Souls Trilogy, and Bluey: The Video Game, re-entered the charts thanks to retailer discounts.
