Unicorn Factory Lisboa, a tech startup, has unveiled The Gaming Hub, a cutting-edge coworking space in Lisbon, Portugal, in collaboration with Fortis Games. The facility spans two floors, featuring 13 private offices and 12 shared workspaces, as reported by GamesBeat. Fortis Games will be among the key occupants, sharing the space with other notable studios such as OnTop Studios, GameDev Técnico - a collective of 50 university students - and remote teams from Volt Games, Infinity Games, and Didimo, totaling 18 virtual staff members. Additionally, office management company Maleo and the Association of Portuguese Video Game Producers are also integral to the project. According to Gil Azevedo, Executive Director of Unicorn Factory Lisboa, 'The Gaming Hub is designed to bring together innovators, universities, sector leaders, investors, and talent to drive growth, attract investment, and create employment opportunities within the country's gaming ecosystem.' He further emphasized that the partnership with Fortis Games, Maleo, and APVP will play a significant role in establishing a vibrant gaming community and fostering the development of a thriving ecosystem in Portugal. Notably, Fortis Games was founded in 2022 by veterans from WB Games, including Steven Chiang and Shawn Foust, along with Calvin Lau, with a primary focus on developing live-action service games.
