First Contact Entertainment Closes Its Doors

First Contact Entertainment has revealed that it will be ceasing operations. In a statement released on social media, the Los Angeles-based developer attributed its decision to a lack of support for virtual reality within the gaming industry. The studio expressed that, as a premier VR game developer, the costs associated with continuing operations could no longer be justified. The team expressed pride in their accomplishments and gratitude towards investors, partners, and the community of players who supported them. The closure comes after the launch of Firewall Ultra for PlayStation VR2, a sequel to the 2018 title Firewall Zero Hour. Prior to this, the studio had been working on Solaris: Offworld Combat 2, a VR multiplayer first-person shooter. Founded in 2016 by former Starbreeze developers, First Contact Entertainment initially secured $5 million in investment funding.
