Activision Blizzard Abandons Flexible Work Arrangement for QA Staff

Activision Blizzard will be discontinuing its flexible work model for quality assurance personnel starting next month, requiring employees in Minneapolis, Austin, and El Segundo to return to full-time office work. The ABK Workers Alliance condemned this decision, stating it will have a detrimental impact on employees who had been seeking permanent remote work arrangements due to disabilities, financial constraints, or other factors. Many of these requests had been denied or offered inadequate in-office accommodations, resulting in a 'soft layoff' for numerous employees. The Alliance believes this move will lead to even more employees being forced out of the company. In contrast, an Activision Blizzard spokesperson asserted that in-person collaboration enables employees to perform at their best, and the company is committed to supporting employees with disabilities and varying needs. The company will provide severance packages to employees who choose to leave due to the new in-office policy.
